MP Calls for Rethink on School Transport

MP for Torfaen Paul Murphy has today asked Torfaen County Borough Council to rethink their policy on transport to faith schools in the Borough.

After meeting with the Council, he said: “Many of my Christian constituents who are not Catholics send their children to Catholic schools for a Christian education, which is their right. I understand their strong feelings about having to pay for their childrens’ school transport. I have therefore met with the Council to represent those affected and have asked the Education Authority to re-examine their policy. I would encourage anyone with any concerns to make their own representations to the Council.”
