Murphy supports Housing Transfer Plans
Local MP Paul Murphy has this week shown his support
for Torfaen Council’s stock transfer plans.
Under the plans, the ownership and management of the
homes will be transferred to Bron Afon Community Housing. Paul Murphy
said: “After looking through the offer document and reading the information
given to tenants, I think this opportunity is too good to miss.”
“We need to improve the quality of our tenants’ homes, to give tenants
better places to live in. The transfer would mean a huge investment
in homes, including new kitchens, bathrooms and all sorts of repairs
to the houses and their surroundings.”
“I note that tenants have been assured that their rights will be protected
and that rents will be no different than with the Council. On top of
that, I am pleased that, as a not-for-profit organisation would be in
charge of the homes, all money must be spent improving tenants’ homes
and services.”
“Throughout the process, tenants have rightly been thoroughly consulted
and given all the information needed for them to make a contribution
to the final proposals and make a decision.”
