Paul Murphy supports Carers Week
Torfaen MP Paul Murphy has expressed his support for Carers Week 2007, which is being held this week.
After signing two House of Commons motions supporting carers, Paul Murphy has lent his support to Carers Week 2007 .
Paul Murphy said: "It is estimated that six million people in our country provide unpaid support to relatives or friends who are frail, ill or disabled. They provide a priceless service to our communities, and should be given the maximum possible support and assistance."
As well as signing motion 1340 on Carers Week, Paul Murphy also signed up to motion 1332 about the 'gainfully employed rule'. This motion urges the Government to look again at the rule that stops carers claiming carers' allowance if they earn more than £87 per week.
