A Fairer Deal for Temporary Workers

Torfaen MP Paul Murphy has welcomed moves to ensure temporary and agency workers receive equal treatment.

The Government this month agreed a deal between employers and Unions that will see all agency workers in the UK receive the same rights as permanent staff after 12 weeks employment. The new measures will protect thousands of UK workers and guard against unfair wage undercutting.

Speaking after the announcement was made, Paul Murphy said: “This is good news for the hundreds of temporary and agency workers in Torfaen, who will now have improved rights at work. Local temporary workers deserve a fair deal that will protect them from exploitation. That’s why I welcome the progress that has been made.”
