Former Mayor Jack Everson Dies aged 82

Former Torfaen Mayor and Pontypool Councillor Jack Everson passed away last Thursday aged 82.

Giving his reaction to the news of Jack Everson's death, Torfaen MP Paul Murphy said: "I had the pleasure of knowing Jack for many years. He was a true servant of the people of Pontypool, a fine socialist and an outstanding Mayor of Torfaen.

Talking about Jack's life outside of politics, which included service as a telegraphist in the Royal Navy, and work to restore the Folly, Paul Murphy said: "Outside of politics, Jack was a skilled stonemason, and often told me remarkable stories about the places where he has worked."
