Gwilliam Evans

A tribute to former Griffithstown and Sebastopol Councillor Gwilliam Evans, 1937-2008.

Gwilliam Evans, former Mayor and long-serving Councillor for Griffithstown and Sebastopol, died last Monday, November 3rd, and I wanted to add my tribute to those given at his funeral today.

Gwilliam was a dedicated and tireless represenative of the people of Griffithstown and Sebastopol, a throroughly decent man and a Labour Party stalwart - someone who really cared about translating his values of social justice into real action.

I knew Gwilliam for several decades - he even chaired the selection meeting at which I became Labour's Parliamentary candidate over 21 years ago - and have countless fond memories of him. So many of those who knew him will remember Gwilliam and the things that he did with great affection.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his widow Pam and the rest of his family.
