Public Meeting on Prison

5.30pm this Friday (7th November) at Cwmbran Stadium

A public meeting on proposals to build a prison in Cwmbran is to be held on Friday 7th November at 5.30pm, at Cwmbran Stadium.

The meeting will be a chance for residents to have their say about the proposals, and discuss how we can keep making our case to the Ministry of Justice in the last few weeks of the consultation. Torfaen MP Paul Murphy and Council Leader Bob Wellington will also report back from their meeting with Prisons Minister David Hanson.

Paul Murphy MP said: “This meeting is a great opportunity for us to come together and say with one voice that we think the police training college site is the wrong place for a prison.”

Council leader Bob Wellington said: “Paul Murphy and I told the Minister what local people have told us loud and clear. Now, we have the chance to reinforce that message back in Cwmbran. I’d urge everyone to turn up and make their views known.”
