Torfaen Veterans Honoured

Paul Murphy MP has today presented HM Armed Forces Veterans’ Badges to seven Torfaen Veterans.

Speaking at the ceremony in Pontypool hosted by Torfaen Mayor Cllr. Nye James, himself a Veterans’ Badge recipient, Paul Murphy said: “It is a privilege to be able to award these Veterans Badges. This award is an excellent way or recognising and honouring the efforts of our Armed Forces Veterans. Those who have served in our Armed Forces have given so much to our country, and their efforts deserve recognition – especially around the time of Remembrance Sunday, when we remember those who died defending our freedom and our values.”

“Last year, I decided to publicise the Veterans Badge in my MP’s newsletter, so that more people would be aware of the opportunity. I’m therefore happy to say that, in the last few months, over 300 local people have been awarded the Badge. I’d urge anyone else who is interested to contact my office.”
