Blaenavon over-50s get Lottery Grant
Paul Murphy MP has presented Blaenavon’s Over-50s Forum with a Lottery cheque for £1440.
The money, from the National Lottery’s Awards for All Wales scheme, will be used to help the group run events and trips for older people in Blaenavon.
Speaking after presenting the cheque to Chair Phyllis Roberts and secretary Terry Parsons, local MP Paul Murphy said: “It was great to see a local organisation being awarded this money and a pleasure to be in Blaenavon to award the cheque. From speaking with members today, I can see that the Forum does a great job for older people in Blaenavon, putting on social events and providing helpful information to members.”
Forum Chair Phyllis Roberts said: “The Forum is going from strength to strength at the moment. We have new members every month, who enjoy the social side of things and like learning about the issues relevant to retired people that we have talks on. It was good to have Paul Murphy to present the award, which will be a great help for the Forum.”
