Congratulations to A-Level Students
Paul Murphy MP has congratulated Torfaen’s A-level students and teachers on A-level results day.
The MP for Torfaen said: “These fantastic results are down to the hard work of students, their teachers and supportive parents. As a lecturer for 17 years, I can attest that this good news is a cause for celebration. The results reflect the great strides we have taken by investing in education and quality teaching.”
“More and more young people are staying on in education than ever before. It’s wrong for critics to belittle the achievements of students and teachers by implying that the qualifications are getting easier.”
“I also welcome the fact that about 50,000 more applicants are expected to be accepted into University this year than just three years ago. That’s 50,000 more people with the chance to improve their lives by going to University. Investment in our Universities has risen by 25 per cent in real terms since 1997.”
Help and advice
Paul Murphy added: “I know that this time of year can be stressful for students sorting out University courses, especially if you’ve not got the results you expected. But help is at hand and I would recommend speaking about your situation with as many people as possible.”
