Congratulations to the Free Press

Paul Murphy has congratulated the Pontypool Free Press on its 150th Anniversary.

Mr Murphy said: “This anniversary is a fantastic achievement. I have lived all my life with the ‘Press’. As a local boy in Asbersychan, I would watch my grandmother devouring every detail of the Friday edition. I remember, with great pride, how I was thrilled when I saw my name on print for the first time, when I was a pupil at West Mon School.

“It has served our valley well; it is part of our lives. It has created a lasting legacy as an important aspect of the community in Pontypool, offering informed opinions, helping to publicise important events and presenting an opportunity for local people to raise and share their concerns.

“I look forward to another 150 years!”
