Help and advice for A-level students

There is a variety of help and advice for A-level students deciding what to do next.

I know that this time of year can be stressful for students sorting out University courses, especially if you’ve not got the results you expected. But help is at hand inside and outside of school or college, and I would recommend speaking about your situation with as many people as possible.

Should you need any advice, students can contact the following institutions:

Students needing help applying through Clearing or with a query about their application can contact the UCAS helpline on 0871 468 0468.

The BBC exam results helpline on 0808 100 8000 offers expert, independent information and advice on applying for university or college, taking time out or choosing to enter employment.

For information on student finance, visit www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance, or call the Student Loans Company direct on 0845 300 50 90 for one to one advice.

There is now also a page on DirectGov that brings together all advice for school, college and university leavers in one place. Visit http://whatsnext.direct.gov.uk/ for more details.

And if I can do anything to help, you are welcome to contact me by calling my office on 01495 750078, or emailing paulmurphymp@parliament.uk

Either way, good luck!
